Paint Tool SAI - Flexible Brush settings

Line-art has been a difficult area for me.  I've been stubborn about painting/drawing with single size media, and while it works very comfortable when I'm drawing traditionally with a ballpoint pen (I just found a pair of Zebra's at Staples, one of my favourite barrels), the results on non-cintiq tablets are disappointing.

I'm going to try and break down my findings from Paint Tool SAI.

Animation practice!

I was hanging out in the Animation cubicles and decided to play with a bit of traditional animation.  These were the original five pages that I drew and watched back on an old Lunchbox downshooter, which would take photographs of the frames and play them back on an old TV.

I animated it with out using a light-table, and my character's head shrunk as the pages went on...

I reworked the animation and cleaned up and colored it in Photoshop.

Riven Breaks Things

I painted this for the League of Legends Digi-Art contest.  Riven and Leona are among my favourite characters, along with Ashe and Fiora.  I had quite a bit of fun painting this, but realized that I have to set up the foundation of the painting better to avoid headache.

CP!R: Cardio Punch! Resuscitation - Global Game Jam 2013

Met a bunch of cool guys at the Global Game Jam site held at USC.  We made a game called CP!R: Cardio Punch! Resuscitation.  It is incomplete and buggy, but we got all the assets in!  Check it out here on the GGJ site: http://globalgamejam.org/2013/cpr-cardio-punch-resuscitation

Testing out some COPIC markers

Over Winter Break, I had a chance to try out the few COPIC markers that my sister had bought.  She and her friend picked a strange arrangement of colors.  I inked a couple of drawings with the Deleter G-pen and #2 ink, then coloured them in with the COPICs

I also did a watercolor illustration of a miner and her canary.  I was very timid with the colors, and didnt put any vibrant darks down.  That weakened the painting, but it was a fun day watercoloring.

figure drawings from fall 2012, in reverse chronological order.  I started doing figure drawings on a clipboard with ink pens recently.
